Warframe is the free-to-play game that kept getting better when nobody was watching. Digital Extremes has spent over a decade adding story quests, new systems, and entire game modes to a foundation that was already generous at launch. The grind is real, the new player onboarding remains a problem, and veteran content droughts pop up between major updates. But the movement, the combat, and the sheer volume of things to do create a package that would be impressive at any price, let alone free. If you can tolerate the learning curve, there are hundreds of hours of content waiting on the other side.

Warframe on mobile is the full PC and console experience shrunk to fit your phone, complete with cross-save and cross-play, making it one of the most ambitious mobile ports ever attempted. The trade-off is a steep learning curve and hardware demands that will push older devices to their limits.

Destiny 2 has some of the best gunplay in the genre, and its raids and endgame activities represent peak cooperative shooter design. The problem is everything around the shooting. Years of content vaulting, expansion purchases on top of a free-to-play model, and controversial design decisions have eroded community trust to a degree that the gameplay alone can't repair. New players face a confusing entry point, and veterans feel the fatigue of a live-service game that keeps asking for more while giving back less. The shooting deserves a 4.5. The experience surrounding it pulls the score down.
