The second half can't quite sustain the brilliance of what comes before, and Simba's journey back to responsibility happens faster than it probably should. None of that keeps this from being the kind of movie that shapes how people think about animation for the rest of their lives.

What holds this show back from greatness is the gap between what it was and what it became. When the focus stayed on a lone bounty hunter and his unlikely ward crossing a dangerous galaxy together, it was something special.

If you can keep games to two or three players and pick your villain matchups carefully, there's a lot to enjoy here.
