Split Fiction

4.5

2025 · Action / Adventure · PC / Steam

Split Fiction is the co-op studio at the height of its powers, trapping a sci-fi writer and a fantasy writer inside simulations of their own unpublished stories and using the premise as a license to reinvent itself every fifteen minutes. Dragons, cyber-ninjas, hoverboards, a level where one player is a sentient pig with problems, the invention rate embarrasses games three times its length, and the finale's split-screen showpiece is an instant landmark. It requires exactly two players, hands a free copy to your partner, and asks only that you tolerate dialogue cheerier than its craft. Couch gaming's best argument continues.

It Takes Two

4.3

2021 · Co-op Action Adventure · PC / Steam

It Takes Two is the most inventive co-op game in years, packed with so many ideas that it makes other collaborative experiences feel conservative by comparison. Hazelight Studios crammed a staggering variety of mechanics into a single game, and nearly all of them land well enough to keep both players engaged. The story stumbles where it should soar, the tone bounces between kid-friendly and surprisingly dark, and some levels overstay their welcome. But as a shared experience between two people, there's almost nothing else like it. That's what won it Game of the Year, and that's what people remember.
