Robert Pattinson brings something entirely new to the character, and the film earns its place in the pantheon of great Batman adaptations. It just asks you to sit still for a very long time to get there.

Bong Joon Ho's first movie since his Oscar sweep is stuffed with ideas about labor, class, and what a person is worth when he's technically replaceable. It's also baggy, tonally scattered, and saddled with a villain played so broadly the satire loses its edge. A fascinating, frustrating film that most viewers are glad exists and few call his best.
