Tales of Arise is the most visually stunning and mechanically polished entry in the Tales franchise, with a combat system that rewards aggressive play and aerial combos alongside a story that tackles themes of oppression and liberation. The first half is excellent, but the second half struggles with pacing issues and a shift in narrative quality that has divided the fanbase. The party chemistry is strong throughout, and the combat keeps encounters engaging even when the story falters. It's the best entry point the series has offered in years, even if it doesn't maintain its momentum all the way through.

Long-term free players can build strong teams and have fun with PvE, but the competitive scene belongs almost entirely to spenders.
