Gorogoa

4.2

2017 · Puzzle · PC / Steam

Gorogoa is a puzzle game played by rearranging four hand-drawn panels on a grid, zooming into illustrations until they become new scenes, sliding one image over another until their elements combine, and the mechanic remains unlike anything else on Steam. Jason Roberts spent the better part of a decade drawing it himself, and the craftsmanship shows in every impossible transition. It runs ninety minutes to two hours, tells its wordless story of faith and obsession through imagery many players finish without decoding, and occasionally reduces its elegance to trial-and-error shuffling. As a bound object of pure invention, it has few equals at any length.

Sky: Children of the Light

4.0

2019 · Social Adventure

Sky: Children of the Light is a rare mobile game that prioritizes beauty, emotion, and human connection over competition and challenge. Its seven realms are among the most visually striking environments on any phone, and the orchestral soundtrack elevates the whole experience into something that feels closer to art than a typical free-to-play title. The daily candle grind and time-limited cosmetics create real friction for long-term players, and anyone looking for mechanical depth will bounce off quickly. But as a peaceful, shareable adventure that rewards curiosity and kindness, Sky occupies a space almost nothing else on mobile even attempts to fill.
